Tennessee is known for two things: blues and barbecue. That is where the story of Fainmous BBQ begins.
Owners James and Karen Fain have spent over a decade perfecting their Tennessee-style barbecue, built on rich hickory smoke and bold vinegar-based sauces. As demand for their signature flavor grew, the couple opened their first Knoxville-inspired restaurant in Houston's Meyerland district in 2011.
With a vision to expand their craft, they later brought their smokehouse to Sawyer Yards in Houston's historic First Ward, surrounded by one of the city's most vibrant art communities. Like the artisans of Gatlinburg, James and Karen approach barbecue as both tradition and craft, extending their signature smoke beyond the pit to include thoughtfully prepared vegetarian and vegan dishes.
